Tower Bridge London

Tower Bridge is one of London's most famous attractions and a world-renowned landmark for the English capital. The bridge has a long history and is considered a masterpiece of engineering.

In the late 1800s, the city of London wanted to build a new bridge over the Thames, the river in London. The problem was that they did not want to disrupt river traffic, so they chose a design in which the bridge could open to allow ships to pass through. It took 8 years, over 400 workers and 11,000 tons of steel to complete the bridge. Nowadays, in addition to its function as a bridge, Tower Bridge is a well-known tourist attraction that attracts millions of people every year. One can walk across the bridge or also make a visit to the towers and upper walkways. The walkways are about 140 feet over the river and connect the two towers. There are a few spots with huge glass panes, called Glass Walks, that allow you to see straight down to the roadway and river. You can also visit the Engine Room. At one time the room helped open the bridge 20 to 30 times a day, today it opens 2 to 3 times a day.

In my opinion, a visit to London Bridge clearly belongs on your to do list when you are in England's capital. You can take great photos with this world famous motif, you learn a lot about the history of the bridge during your visit to the Tower, see the Engine Room and have a great view when you walk over the Glass Walks.

All in all, you can say that Tower Bridge is definitely worth a visit. It is a technical sensation with a long history and offers a great motif for souvenir photos from your London vacation.
